My ISBN numbers came today!  I'm practically a publisher, already!

I'm learning a lot from the puppies.  The first one that licked me when I first met them was Fluffy Boy.  But, then when I would go outside and sit with them, Foxy Girl would always come and sit in my lap, so I kind of "fell" for her.  When I got to know her better, though, I found that she was an incredible rapscallion.  And if you know Tika, you know that I have already had an incredible rapscallion in my life!  Loner Girl, was mostly just loner girl, and usually stayed by herself.  So, after a week or so of being with these puppies, I went back to having Fluffy Boy as my favorite.  He seemed the most solid, and he came when I called "puppies!", and he was always very cute!

Puppy breath.
They've still got it, and I still like it!  They are so cute, rolling around and playing with each other.  I've discovered that if I go outside to see them while they are playing, they jump all over me and keep biting me with their sharp teeth.  But, if I go outside while they're sleeping, they just come over and sit in my lap and want to be petted.  It's very sweet.

One of my all time favorite birds is the magpie.  They are not in the same league as eagles or blue herons, but still as birds go, they are one of my favorites.  And they live in Durango!  How cool is that!  I get to see them all the time!  But, they are eating the puppies food, the little rascals.  And puppies just stand by and watch them.  It's the oddest thing.  The magpies show no fear of the puppies, and they have no reason to.  Check out the picture . . . the blob on the right is one of the puppies watching as the magpie eats her food.  Aren't magpies pretty in their tuxedo-like outfits?

Cell phone mania.
My cell phone arrived last night, and I waited for this morning to activate it. Turns out, you have to have another phone to call a number before you can activate your phone. So, I drove into town. I dialed the number, and while I was on hold, they tell me that if I activate online (I didn't even know you could do that) I would receive a bunch of bonus minutes. I'm all about free things, so I drove back home, got on the computer, clicked to the address they gave me, and nope, couldn't do it. I had to drive back to town!

This cell phone business is aggravating! Did I mention that after sleeping all night with the cell phone in my room, that I got up this morning with a stomach ache? I'm sure the cell phone caused that, too! ;-)

Anyway, back to town I go, and successfully activate the phone. So, I called myself and left myself a voicemail message, just so I could test that out. Then, I couldn't figure out how to access the messages! I kept getting into the voicemail system, but it wouldn't let me hear the messages. The instructions in the manual were sadly lacking. After I got home, I got online and ended up having to call the phone company. They said to call the provider, so I did. I got a recording with poor voice quality and still couldn't make heads or tails out of what to do. I finally found some instructions online that worked. Meanwhile, I had already spent $5 of my initial $20 just trying to figure the thing out!

This is the most stressed I've been in weeks! But, the cool thing is that Jadwiga could send me text messages from Germany! And with her help, I figured out how to send her text messages! Is that cool or what!? Of course, we can chat online for free, but right now, it's not half as much fun!

Did I mention that I have my ringer set to a rooster crowing? I like that.

Ok, so I've named the puppies.  It's only for me in my head, though.  I don't call them by name or anything.  And it's interesting how similar they start out, and how different they become.  There are two that really look alike.  It took me a few days to realize that one has a more distinctive yellow stripe down her nose, and that she has more pointed ears and a more pointed muzzle than the other one.  I named her Foxy Lady or Foxy Girl, cause she kind of resembles a fox.  The other one who looks "just" like her has a more rounded muzzle and ears, and has a white spot on her chest, and her two hind feet have little white spots on her middle toes.  I named her Loner Girl, cause she often just hangs by herself.  The little boy is bigger, brown, and fluffy.  I named him Fluffy Boy.  Foxy Girl is kind of a rapscallion and gets into everything. (She reminds me of "Lily".)  She's the one who always comes to sit in my lap to be petted (or to just chew on me), but she is much too much of a rapscallion to think about adopting her.  Fluffy Boy is kind of a bully, playing really rough with his two sisters.  Loner Girl just kind of minds her own business.

Welcome to the Twenty-first century, Jerri.  My cell phone arrived today.  No, I can't believe it, either.  I did make sure to get one with a speakerphone, so hopefully I don't need to put it close to my head.  It still scares me a little, though.

The Woo-Woo Event!
Today, I attended the Woo-Woo Event!  I'm not making this up!  It was smaller than I expected, but it was still interesting.  At the first vendor I stopped at, I bought another hematite ring . . . the last one that I bought while I was in San Diego, Chaco ate it when he bit me that time!  I walked around looking at crystals, and spiritual books, and seeing palmistry and psychics offering their services.  I met one gray-bearded, attractive gentleman who was interesting, but when he stepped closer, I realized he was in his thirties.  It's so difficult to tell how old men are!
The interesting thing about this guy, though, was that he also said he didn't plan to come to Durango, but the universe led him here.

Editor's note after the fact:  I read a brochure from another person at the Woo-Woo Event, and she also said that the universe led her here.  This scares me!  Because the universe definitely led me here . . . I never had any intention of ever moving back to Durango.  Scary.

I looked at this one mat kinda thing that was made from amethyst.  It was pretty cool, and when I sat on it, I did feel a tingling all over my body.  It was supposed to improve circulation, cure high blood pressure, cure all illnesses, and even protect you against cell phones!  I would've considered it, but it was $500 for just a small one!  Another time, maybe.

What I found most incongruent about the event was the food vendor that they chose . . . they served hot dogs!  These are supposed to be spiritual, aware people and they didn't even offer any vegetarian food!  Well, except grilled cheese, but that hardly counts.  I left and had a slice of pizza.  There is nothing more spiritual than that!!

While I waited for the pizza, I walked around the little shopping area, and what did I find?  A head shop!  I walked in, looked around and told the guy that I hadn't been in a head shop for about forty years.  He said it was about time!  I told him the ones I had been in had a back room with black light and light shows.  He pointed to his back room!  What a flash from the past that was!  BTW, I didn't buy anything!

Back at home, I played with the puppies, and one of them fell asleep in my lap.  Then another one breathed his wonderful puppy breath on me, while he tried to kiss my chin.  I let him.  They are all so cute, and I'm trying so hard not to fall in love with all of them!

Ah oh. Guess what happened today!?!  Pam volunteers at the humane society and she brought home three puppies today! OMG! What am I going to do!? They are so cute . . . and . . . there is nothing in the world like puppy breath!! We'll see what happens.  I told her that if I fell in love with one of the puppies, it was her fault!

What a really wonderful thing this is.  I get to share my life with three wonderful, loving puppies for a few days or a few weeks.  What could be better?!
