Today, I met several people from the Seniors Outdoors Singles group, to go to lunch in Ignacio at the new Ute Casino. We split up into two cars . . . those who wanted to play the slot machines, and those who didn't! I didn't! The drive was nice . . . open country, mountain views, fields covered in white snow, a few cows, and a few horses. It only took about a half hour to get there.
Once there, a few of us went to the "Player's Counter" to get a player's card. The only reason was because we got a discount for lunch! This time, we even got five dollars off for lunch and two dollars cash!
Then we had a wonderful buffet with a large assortment of good food. I have to admit here that I had two desserts! Chocolate cake and pecan pie! But, the good news is that I wasn't the only one! So, I was in good company!
After lunch, we cashed in our two dollar ticket. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a handful of pennies (they have penny slot machines), and a couple nickels. But, none of the machines took cash! You had to put in dollar bills! Can you imagine!?! So, I stuffed the coins back into my pocket and forgot about it. They weren't getting the two dollars that I had been given!
Then we went on a short tour of the new casino. One entire wall of the casino was made out of glass, so we went up to the second fifth floor to take a good good. The view was gorgeous. Beautiful, snow covered mountains in the distance, with farmland leading up to the mountains. I couldn't tear my eyes away. They also had a nice picture of a flying bald eagle, and another picture that had been "cut" into pieces and the pieces put together "wrong". It was very creative, and incredibly cool. I'm going to try it myself!
The poor area was nice, with warm water, and a kind of "river" running along the back of the pool . . . plus, of course, the obligatory hot tub. They also had a fitness area with treadmills, steppers, bicycles, and weights. If anyone is interested in getting a room there, it is an inexpensive $45 a night! A bargain!
Oh! I forgot to mention that they had a bowling alley! That was cool, too! I'd like to go back sometime to bowl and maybe play in a poker tournament. There poker limits are over my head, but sometimes they have cheap or free tournaments, which I really enjoy.
