Driving and . . .

Wednesday
I started off early this morning for my trip to Sedona, Arizona to visit my brother, Marv, and sister-in-law, Liberty. When I got to the Four Corners Monument, I had to stop. I had been there ages ago . . . when it was only the monument and it was free. Today, I had to pay three dollars, and surrounding the monument were little cubicles for Native Americans to sell their wares. There was one woman there today, and I bought a bracelet for two dollars. Such a deal!

Then, I continued down the road until I came to Tuba City. Tuba City is a town that I have always felt a connection to for some unknown reason. But, I haven't been there in maybe thirty or more years. Now, it is a small city and any connection I felt was gone. I stopped at a local "trading post" which had total touristy stuff for outrageous prices. I did buy a couple little things. As I left, I stopped again at a small Native American flea market at the side of the road. Who can resist? They had some horse stuff I wanted to look at, but I didn't buy anything.

The far outskirts of town, away from the newer city-area, looked more like the old Tuba city that I remembered and felt connected to. There was an old trading post there that I'll probably stop at on my way home.

Next, on to Sedona. I arrived before three o'clock, and we went on a small hike to a Tibetan stupa not far from their house. There was a statue of Tara there . . . I'm not too sure who she is, and there was a couple Buddha statues higher up on the hill. We circled them three times, as is custom. Clockwise. Then, we went up higher and there was a medicine wheel. Liberty and I circled it three times and then I honored the four directions.
